Christian Taylor, a 2009 graduate of Sandy Creek High School, won a gold medal in the triple jump competition at the 2012 London Olympics Thursday. Taylor claimed victory after jumping nearly 18 meters. Another product of Fayette County schools, soccer player Kelly O'Hara, also claimed gold as a player on the U.S. women's soccer team, which defeated Japan 2-1, also on Thursday. O'Hara graduated from Starr's Mill High School in 2006.
