The first official Saturday of summer could also be the hottest day of the year, according to weather forecasts.
A high temperature of 97 degrees is forecast for Saturday afternoon in Atlanta, and the humidity could make it feel like 100-plus degrees, Channel 2 Action News meteorologist Brian Monahan said.
“… it’s going to feel like triple-digit heat throughout the afternoon” Monahan said.
A heat advisory has been issued for Butts, Jasper and Putnam counties south of greater Atlanta, with a heat index of 105 to 108 degrees.
There’ll be little relief Saturday evening. By 7 p.m., expect the temperature to remain about 93, Monahan said. By 11 p.m. the temperature is only expected to fall to about 85.
There’s only about a 20 percent chance of rain Saturday.
On Sunday, Monahan said a high of 92 is expected, with a 30 percent chance of rain.
