After receiving complaints from residential trash collection customers, Peachtree City is urging its citizens to double check their garbage service bills for incorrect fees.

The city requires all three companies that provide residential trash pickup — Pollard, Republic and GFL Environmental (formerly Waste Industries) — to include curbside recycling service as part of their base rates. However, the city says some customers of Republic and GFL have reported “a significant extra fee added for recycling” on their recent bills, which is not permitted. Rates and a list of accepted recycling materials for these companies’ Peachtree City services are posted at https://peachtree-city.org/773/Garbage-and-Recycling.

The city recommends that anyone seeing a questionable charge on their bill should contact the trash company directly by phone or using the provider’s online chat feature on the company website.
