The Atlanta-Region Transit Link Authority (ATL) will hold 10 community engagement sessions titled “District Downloads: Processing the Plan for Transit, Mobility and Connectivity in the Region.”

The sessions will kick off in Douglas County at 6:30 p.m. Oct. 8 in Citizens Hall of the Douglas County Courthouse, 8700 Hospital Drive, Douglasville.

These sessions are an opportunity for elected officials, stakeholders and citizens to receive information about the 192 transit projects submitted to the ATL and how those projects work together to form a connected network of transit options in the ATL Regional Transit Plan (ARTP).

One of the transit projects submitted to the ATL that will be a part of the conversation is the fixed-route bus system, Connect Douglas, according to a Douglas County statement.

Each session will be fully interactive with information stations to learn more about ATL, the ARTP, submitted projects and the project evaluation criteria.

Participants will be able to upload their thoughts and ideas on the ARTP electronically through a web-based submission form.

“The Board of Commissioners and myself are excited to welcome the Atlanta-Region Transit Link Authority to our county for this informational session,” Douglas County Chairman Dr. Romona Jackson Jones said. “I hope Douglas County citizens take advantage of the opportunity to hear from these professionals and ask the tough questions pertaining to the continued development of our county’s transit system and fixed-route bus system, Connect Douglas.”

The ARTP was created by law in 2018 and established to focus on improving coordination, integration and efficiency of transit in metro Atlanta.

A regional transit plan made of projects and initiatives was developed, making Connect Douglas a possibility for Douglas County and other transit systems in 12 counties which include Cherokee, Clayton, Coweta, Cobb, DeKalb, Fayette, Fulton, Gwinnett, Henry, Paulding and Rockdale.
