Traffic lanes of U.S. 41 in the north Cartersville area of Bartow County shift next week to a newly constructed bridge over Pettit Creek, the Georgia Department of Transportation announced.

The change is scheduled for the overnight hours starting at 7 p.m. Friday, May 17, for U.S. 41 between Massell Drive SE and the bridge, GDOT said.

Traffic will be moved onto the final alignment for this part of a project, roughly a mile long, to widen U.S. 41 and reconstruct its interchange with U.S. 411.

Project plans also call for bridge construction over U.S. 411 and the CSX railroad. Work began in September 2014 and is expected to finish by April 2020, at a construction cost of $31.5 million. Information: https://bit.ly/2J1u2m9
