Construction partners with the Georgia Department of Transportation will soon shift traffic to the newly constructed lanes on State Route 13/Buford Highway between Sawnee Avenue and Thunder Road in Buford. Crews will begin the shift at 9 a.m. Monday, May 13, with traffic using the new lanes by 1 p.m.

This project was awarded to E.R. Snell Contractor, Inc. for $17 million in June of 2016 and is expected to be complete by June 2020. The completed project will widen 1.684 miles of S.R. 13/Buford Hwy from Sawnee Avenue to Friendship Road/S.R. 347.

Drivers are reminded to use caution and watch for the shift in traffic.
