A Woodstock-area property owners group has agreed to care for the landscaping of Cherokee County streets in its community.

“They’d like to maintain the rights of way at higher levels than the county,” County Manager Jerry Cooper told the Board of Commissioners.

The Towne Lake Residential Owners Association will handle mowing, mulching, weeding, watering, edging, picking up litter, caring for flowers and trimming trees and bushes, among other tasks, according to an agreement approved by commissioners.

The agreement applies to portions of Towne Lake Parkway, Towne Lake Hills South Drive, Rose Creek Drive, Eagle Drive, Parkside Lane, Buckhead Crossing and Wyngate Parkway. It runs for one year and automatically renews for 10 successive one-year terms.

“This is a great deal for Cherokee County. Not only do they do a nice job of maintaining those roads, we don’t have to pay for it,” said county board Chairman Harry Johnston.

Towne Lake is a mixed-use development of nearly 7,000 residential units and lots and 182 commercial properties with nearly 500 businesses. Information: https://bit.ly/2sLGiQw
