The deadline for Gwinnett County motor vehicle owners to opt in to the title tax system is Feb. 28. A new law took effect March 1, 2013, and removed the sales tax and the annual ad valorem tax on newly-purchased vehicles. If you purchased a vehicle in 2012 or in January or February of 2013, you have the option of paying the new title tax instead of the current annual ad valorem tax.
