The bridge that carries Thompson Mill Road over I-98 in Buford will close from June 1 until July 15 for rehabilitation efforts.
The project will also raise the bridge structure to a minimum vertical clearance of 17 feet. The roadway will also be adjusted to match the new bridge elevation. Repairs to the driving surface will also be performed during this rehabilitation work.
Traffic needing to travel west on Thompson Mill Road towards Buford will be redirected to North Bogan Road, then Hamilton Mill Road, then State Route 13. Traffic traveling east along Thompson Mill Road will be directed to State Route 13, to Hamilton Mill Road then to North Bogan Road.
This project was awarded to L.C. Whitford Company., Inc. in July, 2017 with a contract completion date of July 31, 2018.
Motorists are reminded to reduce their speed while traveling through work zones, pay attention and watch for workers.
