Healthy children of any age, including siblings and friends of the patient, are welcome to visit Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta — except during flu season.

Putting visitor restrictions in place during respiratory-illness season is standard policy for the pediatric care system, meaning they’re in place no matter how severe  the season happens to be.

Here is CHOA’s visitor policy for children during fall and winter:

· Guests must be 12 years or older, and free of fever or viral symptoms

· If the visitor is younger than 14 years old, they must be with an adult family member at all times

·  Guests may use the activity centers — such as libraries and gardens — but play rooms on the units are restricted to patients

· Guests may attend any special activities with patients.

Flu season varies from year to year, so potential guests should call the operator at 404-785-5437 for more information about when the restrictions are in effect for young visitors.
