4 things to do in Dekalb this weekend l July 8-10

Looking for something to do this weekend?

How about putting on those dancing shoes for contra dancing or attending a show at Onstage Atlanta Theatre?

There's pleanty of activities to participate in this weekend in Dekalb.

Contra Dancing. Described as a hybrid between square dancing and swing dancing, contra dancing will take place at 8 p.m., Friday, July 8 at the Clarkston Community Center Activity Field, 3701 College Ave. It's open to people of all ages. Beginners' lessons start at 7:30 p.m.

Dirty Rotten Scoundrels. The play centers around two con artists, Lawrence Jameson and Freddy Benson, who make a living out of swindling women out of their money. They soon decide the small French town isn't big enough for the two of them. The two scammers enter into the biggest contest of their lives where the winner gets to extract a fortune from a heiress and the loser has to leave town.

The show will take place at Onstage Atlanta Theatre (2969 East Ponce de Leon Ave.) The show runs 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday, July 8 and 9 and 3 p.m., Sunday, July 10. Tickets are $25 each at the door on Friday & Saturday and $17 at the door on Sunday; you'll save $3 when you order tickets in advance online and can be purchased here.

Decatur Ghost Tour. A walking ghost tour in Historic Downtown Decatur. The tour begins at 8 p.m. in Decatur's Historic Town Square and it stops by one of the oldest two-story homes in Decatur.

Advance reservations required. Tour fees are $15 for adults, and $12 for children.
