The Vent for Wednesday

May 20, 2014

Why are we constantly being lectured about diversity and yet those who preach the concept are the ones who do not practice what they preach?

Do you really think that yelling at me is going to make me want to buy a car from you?

It appears that “my phone died” is the current generation’s “the check is in the mail.”

Today I have fifteen messages on my home answering machine, all robocalls from political candidates. I want reimbursement for their use of the phone line I pay for and the equipment I own for their advertising purposes.

Friends from New Mexico are here for a one-month class and said “How can you live here? Every morning on the news is decapitations, revenge murders, shootings and bodies found in various places."

For all the early voters, robocalls make absolutely no sense.

I miss Celestine Sibley. There are none like her anymore.

Three things that I will never do: Argue with anyone on The Vent, argue with my wife and try to baptize a cat!

Isn’t it interesting how some folks believe public schools are the ultimate in modern education without even considering that there might be a better way?

Sociology is not about the study of cultures, race and prejudice. Get an education before you give educational advice.

Since we use phone service that charges by number of calls/minutes, we are keeping records of unsolicited calls (political and otherwise). Documentation will be provided to our legal team for fee collection from callers.

Objective review of the candidates makes it clear that we have deep bench strength in both conservative and crazy.

Bought a used car from a lovely couple in Buckhead years ago. It would literally die as I was driving up Ga. 400 to work every morning. Damn thing nearly got me killed. You can’t trust anyone when it comes to a used car. Really sad.

Nice intentions for WSB-TV to broadcast candidate debates. But now that they realize how badly candidates handled themselves, they may never host these again.

When banks scam property owners, public schools lose.

Why don’t we bring all the schools up to par so we won’t need charter schools? I do not believe we need to finance charter schools.

Georgians were kept out of poverty by Social Security income last year. Please don’t vote for the party that wants to privatize it. My dad depends on it, and maybe your dad does too.

Will anything ever be done with the Peachtree Hills Place property? The 23 neglected and apparently abandoned acres make the neighbors nostalgic for the run-down apartments that once stood there.

Since when do people actually keep medicine in a medicine cabinet?

Portland leaders have determined that Walmart is not a socially responsible company and are not allowing any more to be built and letting old leases expire. They’ve determined that Walmarts actually cost MORE due to what the taxpayers have to pay in food stamps and health care to Walmart slaves. They can do math in Oregon apparently.

The only way this will be a better country is if more women are elected and men get out of the way.

There’s a reason robocalls and negative advertisements are done in political campaigns. THEY WORK.
