Thanks to some of the fastest growth in the state, the Grayson City Council voted to keep the 2016 millage rate at 2.10 mills. This is the third year in a row without an increase despite more than $1.3 million in public improvement projects currently underway.
While the city will not increase taxes, property owners can anticipate slightly higher tax bills due to an anticipated increase in property tax assessments. As required by state law, Grayson held three public hearings on the matter before the vote this week.
New growth in Grayson, resulting in increased revenue, includes approximately 260 new residential permits, commercial investments of more than $23 million and 28 new businesses in the past year.
