A day after storms knocked down trees in some parts of Atlanta, calmer weather was in store Saturday afternoon.

The chance of rain is “pretty slim” for the afternoon, Channel 2 meteorologist Brad Nitz said. A high temperature is forecast at 83.

Friday’s high reached 95 degrees, but the temperature fell to about 74 about 6:30 p.m. after the storms, Channel 2 reported.

Saturday’s cooling will continue into Sunday morning, Nitz said. Temperatures will start in the 60s with a high in the 80s.

And technically, Monday is the first official day of summer. It will bring plenty of sunshine with a high around 87.
