New item-DeKalb County
We received an email from a frustrated resident in DeKalb County.
“As a citizen of Dekalb County we can no longer tolerate the bad condition of our roads in the south Dekalb Area. River Road cannot handle anymore ‘poor patchwork,’ ‘band aid,’ or “quick fix” on the 74 potholes. River Road is in desperate need of an overhaul with quality pavement. Each day, I see people playing dodge ball by avoiding potholes and crossing over the yellow lines into oncoming traffic, just to avoid potholes,” wrote the resident.
We got a quick response from the county.
“We are aware that there are a lot of potholes in this area. The section of River Road from Waldrop to Plantersville is rated 32, the section from Misty Lake to Bouldercrest Road is rated 31,” wrote county press secretary Burke Brennan. Brennan explained that both of the roads are on the county resurfacing list, however they are also in the 400 miles of roads on that list waiting for funding.
“Currently there are no funds available to resurface those streets. In the interim we will be filling potholes that can be filled and patching larger sections of pavement to extend the life of the road until resurfacing funds are available,” he added.

Harry Lewis is extremely concerned over a traffic light at a busy intersection.
“I’m emailing about the intersection of Steve Reynolds Boulevard and Pleasant Hill Road. The duration of the traffic light for folks going south on Steve Reynolds then turning left, west on Pleasant Hill, has been shortened during evening rush. It now takes me two to three light changes to turn onto Pleasant Hill where as it used to take one light. Please increase the timing,” he asked.
We sent the item to the county and will let you know what happens.

Jeff Grimm want to know when a busy street and sidewalk in the city are going to be finished.
“The street and sidewalk on Piedmont Road just north of Piedmont Center has been torn up and worked on for going on a year now. When is the city going to finally finish (and hopefully re-pave) Piedmont Road in that area?” he wrote.
We sent the issue to the city and will let you know the outcome.
