Sally Smith desperately wants a storm drain fixed.
“This storm drain is at the intersection of Cherokee Avenue and Augusta Avenue, directly across from the Atlanta Zoo. It will take a little engineering to fix this, since the street repavings have left the storm drain below street level,” she wrote.
Smith said the location is a very busy crosswalk with lots of families with children and lots of strollers.
“It is embarrassing to think that we have visitors from all over the world as well as neighboring counties and this is what they see when they come to visit. It has been an eyesore and a hazard since I moved to this area 14 years ago. “
We sent her issue to the city’s Department of Watershed Management and will keep you updated.

John Siegel has an issue with an uneven bridge.
“I live on Moores Mill Road, NW, midway between the bridge over Peachtree Creek and Peachtree Battle Avenue. Some time ago the city/county repaved the bridge and did a good job, except for one thing: the level of the bridge is now about an inch or two above the two sides of the street which it connects,” he wrote.
He said when trucks cross the bridge it sounds very much like thunder. “It’s bad enough if they slow down, which is seldom, but when they go by at full speed, it is quite disturbing. Cars don’t present that much of a problem, though I can’t imagine it is doing anybody’s tires any good,” he added.
We sent his problem to the city and will let you know how it turns out.

New item-Downtown Connector
A non-working light is causing one reader fits.
“I now travel from Linden Avenue to the 85/75 connector going North (ultimately to 85 North). I have yet to see the lights that control the traffic entering the connector working. Everyone just jams up to the end of the merge lane slowing down traffic immensely. Of course, I need to get three lanes over to get on 85 which is very hard to do when the traffic is so backed up. I see these lights working in other areas and they seem to really help control the flow of the traffic entering the interstates. What’s going on with this light?” the reader asked
We sent the item to the DOT and keep you posted.
