The Suwanee City Council voted Tuesday to allocate up to $25,000 for sidewalks along Smithtown Road and to fill a few gaps in existing sidewalks along State Route 317/Lawrenceville-Suwanee Road. The approximate 2-mile stretch of Smithtown Road runs between Pierce Point subdivision near Lawrenceville-Suwanee Road to Satellite Boulevard. The engineering firm Clark, Patterson and Lee was chosen from those submitting bids for the work.
The project should make it easier for families walking to and from Suwanee Elementary School. Construction, including sidewalks and curbs should begin by late May, weather permitting.
