An SUV driver was injured Thursday morning after hitting a sign, flipping several times and crashing into a Taco Bell restaurant near Gwinnett Place Mall, according to police and firefighters.
The crash happened on Pleasant Hill Road near Satellite Boulevard, Cpl. Michele Pihera with Gwinnett police said. The SUV came to a rest next to the front entrance to the restaurant around 9:30 a.m.
The driver, whose name was not released, was taken to a hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries, Capt. Tommy Rutledge with the fire department said. No one else was injured.
The crash caused fluid to leak from the SUV, but firefighters were able to contain it, Rutledge said. There was no major damage to restaurant building, he said.
Police were working to determine the cause of the crash.
