A man experiencing a medical emergency crashed his SUV into a house in DeKalb County late Tuesday afternoon.

The incident happened in the 2300 block of Ramblewood Circle near Decatur. Witnesses said the man's daughter tried to grab the wheel of the SUV, Channel 2 Action News reported.

The man later died, a DeKalb police officer said.

"It has been determined that the driver did suffer a medical emergency which resulted in his death," Capt. Stephen Fore said. "The vehicle crash was not a factor in the death of the driver."

Neighbor Jackie Phillips said she ran out of her home when the lights went out, then she heard screaming.

She said a Ford Expedition ran into a nearby house and gas started leaking from the home. She saw two men pulling a man out of the vehicle.

"His daughter was in the vehicle, and she was the one that was yelling and crying," Phillips said.

Neighbors performed CPR until emergency medical services arrived, she said.
