A 2016 case where a Brookhaven woman allegedly suffocated her infant daughter to death will be featured on the show "In Pursuit with John Walsh" Wednesday night, highlighting the ongoing search for the mother.

The episode airs at 10 p.m. on the Investigation Discovery channel. The show follows Walsh, the creator of “America’s Most Wanted,” as he works to find fugitives and solve violent crimes.

Wednesday’s show will profile suspects including Estefania Roman-Aguilar, who is wanted in the death of her five-month-old daughter Camila Aguilar. Brookhaven police were called to an apartment complex on Buford Highway on Sept. 21, 2016 and found the baby unconscious and not breathing. Camila was pronounced dead at the hospital.

Roughly a month later, Roman-Aguilar was arrested; she allegedly told police she used a pillow to suffocate the child, according to a warrant. But autopsy results on the baby had not yet been released, so police only charged her with child cruelty, Brookhaven police spokesman Sgt. Carlos Nino said.

About a week after Roman-Aguilar’s arrest, the autopsy ruled the death a homicide by suffocation. Detectives obtained a murder warrant for the woman, but she was nowhere to be found. She had been released from jail on bond just two days earlier, Nino said. He said the department recommended she be held without bond and detectives did not know she was released.

Now, Nino said, investigators do not know where she is.

“We strongly believe that she fled the country,” he said. He said he hopes the John Walsh show “is going to bring awareness, and hopefully somebody will call in and help us locate her.”

Anyone with information about Roman-Aguilar's whereabouts is asked to contact Brookhaven police or Crime Stoppers.

Walsh's show also has its own tip line; viewers can call or text 1-833-3-PURSUE or visit InPursuitTips.com and remain anonymous.
