The FBI and local authorities are seeking the public’s help in catching a man suspected in two North Georgia armed bank robberies, including one on Wednesday.
The suspect robbed a United Community Bank in Villa Rica around 12:23 p.m. on Wednesday, according to FBI Special Agent in Charge J. Britt Johnson.
In a release, Johnson said the suspect entered the bank on West Bankhead Highwa, brandishing a handgun wrapped in a cloth. After demanding money from a teller, he fled in a burgundy late-1990’s or early-2000 Ford Explorer SUV.
The same man is suspected in the armed robbery of a BB&T branch on Whitlock Avenue in Marietta on Aug. 14. In that incident, the suspect had a gun wrapped in a gray shirt.
In both robberies, the man got away with an undisclosed amount of money.
The suspect is described as a white male in his late 40s to early 50s, 5 feet 7 inches tall, thin build and weighing 150 to 170 pounds.
In the United Community Bank robbery, images from surveillance video show the suspect wearing a camouflage boonie hat, a beige colored bandana that covered his lower face, dark pants and a beige long sleeve button style shirt.
