Dunwoody City Council is spending $500,000 of a projected windfall to boost spending on parks and sidewalks this year.

The bulk of the money will go toward tearing down two dilapidated buildings at Brook Run Park, which the city took over in June. The remaining $100,000 will go toward sidewalk construction.

The city, which is now going through its budget planning for 2011, expects to have $1.7 million more than expected when the current budget year ends in December.
