A Super Target in East Roswell is slated to close weeks after the holiday season ends.

The store, located at 2600 Holcomb Bridge Road, should shutter after close of business Jan. 28, 2017.

The decision to close a Target store is not made lightly, and eligible employees are offered the option to transfer to other Target locations, a spokeswoman said in an email.

"We typically decide to close a store after careful consideration of the long-term financial performance of a particular location," the spokeswoman said. "Typically, a store is closed as a result of seeing several years of decreasing profitability."

Target recently announced it will open on Thanksgiving Day at 6 p.m. this year, as it has in previous years.
