An armed man robbed a SunTrust Bank in Fayetteville on Thursday afternoon before fleeing with a getaway driver, police said.

The suspect came into the bank around 2:25 p.m. brandishing a handgun. He told everyone to get down before jumping over the counter and demanding that a teller fill his red and black backpack with money, authorities said.

The suspect got away with an undisclosed amount of cash. No shots were fired during the robbery.

The black male suspect was wearing a yellow construction hat, blue jeans and a blue shirt. He also had a red bandana around his neck.

He left the scene in an older burgundy vehicle, possibly a Chevrolet Impala, driven by a second male suspect.

Anyone with information should contact the Fayetteville Police Department at 770-461-4441.
