Enjoy Sunday’s sunshine and 60-degree temperatures, because forecasters are predicting that the coldest weather so far this winter will have metro Atlantans battling wind chills in the teens by early Tuesday.

Channel 2 Action News meteorologist Brad Nitz said highs will be in the low 60s on Sunday and upper 50s on Monday, with overnight lows around 40 degrees.

Tuesday, however, will begin with morning lows in the upper 20s, and afternoon highs will not likely climb out of the mid-40s before temperatures take a nose dive into the mid-20s.

The National Weather Service warned that brisk winds will drop wind chills on Tuesday into the teens across metro Atlanta and single digits in extreme north Georgia.

Nitz said skies should be sunny until Thursday, when he’s predicting a 20 percent chance of rain, along with highs around 60 degrees and lows in the upper 30s.
