Sunny skies, mild temps expected after wet Sunday
The weekend will end on a damp note for metro Atlantans, but look at the bright side.
“It will help to clear some of the pollen out of the air,” Channel 2 Action News meteorologist Brad Nitz said, though pollen counts are expected to remain high through the week.
Still, every little bit helps, and Nitz said the metro area could receive up to one-half inch of precipitation Sunday afternoon and evening, adding to a surplus of rain that on Friday put Lake Lanier above full pool — 1,071 feet — for the first time since May 2011. The lake has risen more than 13 feet since the first of the year, according to the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.
Lingering showers may persist into the early morning hours but will give way to partly cloudy skies before noon, Nitz said. Temperatures will rise from the mid-70s Monday to the low-80s by midweek, with lows climbing into the 60s by Wednesday.
