Although temperatures started off at near freezing levels, Sunday was to become another sunny spring day.
“There will be a chilly start to the day, but mostly sunny and a big warm up with mild, easterly wind,” Channel 2 Action News meteorologist Brad Nitz said.
Temperatures in most of the Atlanta metro area will reach a high of 68 degrees Sunday.
The cool weather comes in time for this weekend’s full slate of spring festivals — and gives road crews dry conditions for several construction projects around town.
The dry conditions will be welcomed by those headed to such outdoor events as the Atlanta Dogwood Festival at Piedmont Park, the Sweetwater 420 Fest in Candler Park, the Big Shanty Festival in downtown Kennesaw, the Sandy Springs Artsapalooza along Lake Forrest Drive and Dunwoody’s Lemonade Days at Brook Run Park.
The dry weather will also be conducive for road construction, and the state Department of Transportation has several projects going on this weekend that will shut down interstate lanes.
Nitz said the next chance of scattered thunderstorms is Wednesday.
