Sugar Hill leaders have made the difficult decision to cancel one of the city’s most popular summer events. Sparks in the Park, which had been scheduled for Aug. 1, will return next year on July 3, 2021 just in time to celebrate Independence Day.

In an announcement from the city, officials noted “the cancellation comes after careful deliberation and consideration of the scale of the event, the number of positive cases of COVID-19, and the health and welfare of our community, guests, staff, volunteers, and vendors that make this night possible.”

Community response to the decision has been overwhelming positive with most residents saddened but appreciative that the city has put health and safety first.
