Metro Atlantans woke up to winter-like temperatures in the 20s Thursday, but forecasters are promising spring-like readings in the 70s by Friday.

Temperatures just after daybreak Thursday included 27 degrees in Dallas, 28 in Dunwoody and 29 at Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport.

Channel 2 Action News meteorologist David Chandley said afternoon temperatures will top out in the mid-50s Thursday, but climb to around 70 degrees Friday after a morning low in the upper 30s.

The weekend should be dry and even warmer, with highs in the mid-70s and lows around 50 degrees.

The next chance of rain is forecast for Monday, Chandley said.
