Heritage Sandy Springs has announced streets closed to through traffic this weekend for its primary fund-raising event, the Sandy Springs Festival.

Starting at 10 a.m. Sept. 22, Sandy Springs Place and Hilderbrand Drive will be closed from Sandy Springs Circle to Blue Stone Road.

Starting at 2 p.m. Sept. 22, Sandy Springs Circle will be closed from Mount Vernon Highway to just past Sandy Springs Place.

Streets will reopen at 10 p.m. Sept. 24. Blue Stone will remain open all weekend.

Also, the Doug Kessler Lightning 10K/5K race, 8 to 9:30 a.m., Sept. 23, will affect traffic along the race route, Mount Vernon Highway and Old Powers Ferry Road between Sandy Springs Circle and Northside Drive.

The festival, 9 a.m.-6 p.m., Sept. 23, and 10 a.m.-5 p.m., Sept. 24, will offer live music, cultural performances, a pet parade, car show, “Chalk Walk” art competition and other activities. It is in its 32nd year and for the first time this year, admission is free. More than 20,000 people are expected to attend.
