Street resurfacing in Snellville’s Livable Centers Initiative area in the Towne Center began Wednesday and is expected to continue through Friday. Oak Road, Clower Street and Wisteria Drive will remain open, but residents can expect delays as traffic will be directed by construction workers.

The project includes construction of more than 5,000 feet of new sidewalks, each 10-feet wide for pedestrian safety and convenience, a 5-foot planting strip for new street trees and flowers/shrubbery and brick paver crosswalks to slow traffic and encourage walking.

In addition, improvements will include new lighting fixtures carrying on the same theme as those around the Towne Green and the placement of benches, bike racks and other pedestrian amenities to encourage people to enjoy the area.
