Stockbridge officials announced Nov. 29 that all lawsuits filed by the city in connection with the proposed city of Eagle’s Landing had been dropped.

The announcement came three weeks after voters rejected the cityhood move in a referendum, leaving Stockbridge intact. Had the measure passed, property in Stockbridge would have been de-annexed and placed into Eagle’s Landing — the first time ever in Georgia that a city was created including land from an existing city. Stockbridge had filed suit on the constitutionality of the legislation intended to create Eagle’s Landing, and that matter was awaiting a ruling from the Georgia Supreme Court at the time of the vote.

A federal lawsuit had been filed as well.
