Polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 11, as voters pick a new representative in the Georgia House District 80 special election runoff.
District residents will choose between Democrat Taylor A. Bennett and Republican J. Max Davis, neither of whom managed 50 percent of the vote in the July 14 special election. Bennett finished first in July among four candidates, garnering almost 37 percent of the vote, while Davis pulled about 31.5 percent. Bennett is a local attorney while Davis is a former mayor of Brookhaven.
The district covers portions of Sandy Springs, as well as Brookhaven and a portion of Chamblee. The seat opened up earlier this year this year when former Republican State Rep. Mike Jacobs resigned to accept a judicial appointment.
