The Gwinnett Water Resource Department is reminding residents outdoor water restrictions remain in place even though current rain totals remain normal for the year. The Georgia Water Stewardship Act of 2010 allows landscape and lawn irrigation every day of the week beginning at 4 p.m. and ending at 10 a.m.

One change from previous years: Gwinnett is not currently under additional restrictions based on even / odd addresses. The rules could change in times of drought.

Exemptions to the Gwinnett watering restrictions include:

  • Irrigation of personal food gardens;
  • Irrigation of new and replanted plant, seed, or turf in landscapes, golf courses, or sports turf fields during installation and for a period of 30 days immediately following the date of installation;
  • Drip irrigation or irrigation using soaker hoses;
