Snellville, Suwanee candidates to debate issues

The heated contest for Snellville mayor and city council seats will get a little hotter as candidates debate the issues 7 to 8:30 p.m. Oct. 29 at the Gwinnett Justice and Administration Center, 75 Langley Drive in Lawrenceville.

Candidates running in Suwanee will also debate at the event. The public is invited.

The United Ebony Society of Gwinnett is organizing the event hosted by Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc. and Upsilon Alpha Omega Gwinnett Chapter Connection Committee.

Snellville Mayor Kelly Kautz has two opponents, former mayor pro-tem Tom Witts, and Garry Lapides. In addition, incumbent Dave Emanuel will run against Barbara Moston for post 1. Roger Marmol and Dexter Brannon will vie for post 2, and Cristy Lenski will compete against Mike Sabbagh for post 3.

Suwanee will hold elections to fill two city council posts. Incumbent Doug Ireland will face Sara Kleinfeld, and incumbent Dick Goodman faces Stephan B. Caldwell. Mayor Jimmy Burnette is running unopposed.
