A long-awaited sidewalk project is set to begin on North Road in Snellville. Orange construction barrels are now lining North Road, the first step in an effort to make the busy side street more pedestrian friendly.
The $942,137 project, funded by the 2009 Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax, is designed to provide a sidewalk on the east side of the road from Wisteria Drive to Pharrs Road. According to Gwinnett County transportation officials, the project will stop short of the Pharrs Road intersection to avoid overlap with any future county or city projects.
Construction is expected to take 12 months.
