The Smyrna City Council voted 7-0 recently to spend $94,328 on a new Ford E-450 SWAT truck for the police department.

The current Ford SWAT van is a 1996 model that will be surplused due to its age and condition.

Faber Specialty Vehicles was the only vendor that could supply the SWAT truck under $100,000, excluding emergency equipment and striping.

The striping/graphics will be provided by The Grafic Shop, and the emergency equipment and installation will be purchased from Diversified Electronics in Marietta.
