The Smyrna United Task Force is being reorganized by the city’s new assistant city administrator.

“The goal of this community-led group is to work toward having regular discussions about diversity and inclusivity,” Scott Andrews told The Atlanta Journal-Constitution in an email on Dec. 8.

The task force previously stopped meeting “due to conflicts of schedule, the busy lives of working professionals often taking priority over volunteer-based initiatives” he added. This time Andrews is requesting that each of the seven City Council members appoint two people to serve on the task force, according to City Administrator Tammi Saddler Jones in the Nov. 20 pre-council minutes.

“The city looks to gain momentum on the Vision and Comprehensive Plans which were recently completed, as diversity and inclusion are important elements in each of these community studies,” Andrews said. “We want to make sure we are hearing the needs of the entire Smyrna community.”
