A Dec. 5 runoff is scheduled between Travis Lindley and Maryline Blackburn for the Ward 3 post on the Smyrna City Council.

Lindley received 32.15 percent or 371 votes and Blackburn had 28.77 percent or 332 votes.

Other contenders were Jeff Carter with 22.1 percent or 255 votes, Adam P. Taylor with 15.34 percent or 177 votes and Marshall A. Moon with 19 votes.

This special election was called when Councilwoman Teri Anulewicz, a Democrat, resigned to run for the House District 42 post left vacant when Smyrna attorney and Democrat Stacey Evans resigned to run for governor.
