Smyrna will replace seven police vehicles by buying six new vehicles and refurbishing two vehicles.

The Smyrna City Council agreed Feb. 19 to pay $259,742 through a state contract with Wade Ford for the five equipped Ford Explorers, one administrative Ford Explorer and refurbishment of two equipped Ford Crown Victorias.

Three uniform patrol vehicles and one administrative vehicle have been or will be taken out of service in Fiscal Year 2018.

The replacement vehicles were included in the FY18 Vehicle Replacement Fund.

These vehicles that will be taken out of service are a result of mileage, damage sustained in accidents or upon guidance from the fleet manager.

The vehicles and equipment will be purchased using state/county contracts through cooperative contract pricing and graphics from a single-source provider who solely owns the graphics artwork.

All vehicles will be purchased from or refurbished by Wade Ford and all necessary equipment from Insight Public Sector, Grafix and Diversified Electronics.
