The Smyrna City Council recently awarded bids on two projects.

Site Engineering Inc. was the low bidder at $325,909 for the Pretty Branch sanitary sewer outfall rehabilitation. Around 922 linear feet of sanitary sewer main will be replaced between Pretty Branch Drive and Lee Street. Southern Landscapes will perform fieldwork in Chuck Camp Park for around $67,081, using Community Development Block Grant funds from the federal government.

Southern Landscapes has an exclusive contract with the sole-source provider, G2 Turftools, to perform turf-planing services with the unique, patented G2 Turfplaner on baseball fields 1, 2 and 3 and the multi-use field at Chuck Camp Park, according to City Administrator Tammi Sadler Jones.

Also, Southern Landscapes will till, blend and install infield clay mix on the three baseball fields and lay Bermuda grass sod on the three baseball fields and multi-use field.

Separating this planer from others, the G2 Turfplaner can leave a finished grade during the grass removal process and alleviate the need to pay additional monies for laser-grading before sod installation, Jones said.
