Smyrna Council splits over Reed House architect

The Smyrna City Council voted 4-3 Monday to approve architectural and engineering services to develop the Historic Reed House as an event center.

Including a three-dimensional model, the services will cost $5,200 for the digital survey, $4,600 for as-built drawings and $8,700 for the building condition and design recommendations report with billing ranging from $85 to $205 per hour.

In favor were Councilwomen Teri Anulewicz and Melleny C. Pritchett and Councilmen Ron Fennel and Charles Welch.

Opposed were Councilwomen Andrea Blustein and Susan Wilkinson and Councilman Wade Lnenicka.

Lyman Davidson Dooley, Inc. of Marietta will provide a report to update and stabilize the 1910 house of 4,900 square feet on 3.55 acres at 3080 Atlanta Road.

The city council voted in March to buy this house for $1.8 million.
