The Smyrna City Council agreed 6-0 April 16 to buy a new portable stage for $143,975.
Stageline Mobile Stage, Inc. of Quebec, Canada will provide the 24-foot by 20-foot mobile hydraulic stage and accessory package.
Funding for the model SL100 will come from the city’s hotel/motel fund balance since the stage was not budgeted previously.
Councilman Ron Fennel noted the city’s hotel/motel fund takes in more than $1 million each year.
With the new stage, fewer man hours will be needed to set up for the city’s summer concert series with professional bands “while expanding setup options, show delivery and overall production capabilities.”
The accessory package includes upstage fire retardant windwall, skirting, extension platforms, guardrails, line array supports, FOH pipes, banner supports, stage reversibility, side overhang rigging beams/upstage for speakers, loading ramp, transportation and training for four staff to be certified for its operation.
Stageline is a worldwide leader in the design and manufacture of mobile hydraulic stages and has supplied equipment to numerous North American and U.S. cities, including a U.S. military base, according to city officials.
