Henry County Board of Commissioners Chairman Tommy Smith has made it official that he will not seek a second term in 2016.

Smith filed an “affidavit of an incumbent not seeking reelection” with the Georgia Transparency and Campaign Finance Commission, stating that he would not be qualifying for the May primary.

The filing was recorded Jan. 25.

When asked about his plans, Smith said he is considering the possibility of seeking another office but did not indicate which one.
