A man shot and killed while driving a luxury Maybach car along I-20 last week has been identified by the DeKalb County Medical Examiner’s office as 42-year-old James D. Lewiel.

According to a funeral notice placed in Sunday’s Atlanta Journal-Constitution by Gregory B. Levett & Sons Funeral Home, Lewiel, of Atlanta, also went by the name “OG Double Dee.”

OG Double Dee was a rapper who recorded with the Atlanta-based Freebandz label, whose founder, rapper Future, on Friday tweeted, “RIP#DD.

Lewiel was shot multiple times Thursday afternoon during rush hour traffic on I-20 westbound at Glenwood Avenue.

Witnesses told police that the shots were fired from a white sport utility vehicle, which fled the scene. The Maybach, which retails at $400,000 and up, was hit by multiple bullets, and Lewiel died Thursday night at a local hospital.

DeKalb County police spokeswoman Mekka Parish told the AJC late Monday morning that no arrests have been made.

Lewiel’s funeral will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at New Life Church in Decatur, with burial at Kennedy Memorial Gardens in Ellenwood. Visitation will be from noon to 8 p.m. Friday at the church, which is at 3592 Flat Shoals Parkway.
