The Canton City Council is to consider clarified hours for city parks as well as rules on bikes, skateboards, in-line skates and drones when it meets July 21.

Following recommendations of Parks & Recreation Director Tom Gilliam, the Council is expected to approve park hours of 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. seven days week. Parks currently are open from “dawn to dusk.”

Users of bicycles, skateboards and inline skates will be asked to follow these rules: Pedestrians have the right-of-way at all times, no high-speed bike riding, keep to the right and pass on the left, announce yourself when approaching from behind, and keep animals on a short leash. Also, those under 16 must wear helmets.

Powered model aircraft and boats, rockets and unmanned aerial systems (drones) would not be allowed except in areas designated for their use.
