Marietta City Council members may review a proposal to allow the sale and consumption of alcoholic beverages at Six Flags White Water during their next meeting at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Council Chambers, City Hall, 205 Lawrence St.

This request came from Michael Sard, representing SFOG Acquisition Company for Six Flags White Water - Atlanta, 250 Cobb Parkway North, Suite 100, Marietta.

During a committee meeting, Sard said the proposal is that alcohol only would be served when the water park is open at least three days a week with meals being served. It would also be limited to water parks that are at least 60 acres. Curently Six Flags White Water is the only one meeting that restriction at 69 acres.

More controls would involve a one-drink limit with identification and refusal to serve anyone who appears to be intoxicated, Sard said.

Yet council members questioned how water park officials could regulate parents who may be drinking while their children are on the rides.

Sard responded that lifeguards would be watching the children.

Of the top nine water attractions in the nation, Sard said Six Flags White Water is the only without an alcohol license.
