A GDOT project in Milton is expected to cause delays on one road for the next few months.

Beginning on Dec. 11, the city and GDOT will begin a streetscape project along Mayfield Road that will bring new sidewalks to both sides of a stretch of Mayfield Road, between Mid-Broadwell Road and Charlotte Drive.

The project is expected to be complete sometime in early March, the city says. While the project is ongoing, lanes on the road may be closed, and will be limited to one-way traffic between the hours of 9 a.m. and 4 p.m.

A sidewalk project in Milton will force a lane on a busy road to close. City leaders and GDOT have a detour planned. The project should be done by March 2018.

To minimize delays, the city has planned a detour route. Eastbound traffic will be directed to turn right on Mid-Broadwell Road, then left onto Charlotte Drive. Then, at the intersection of Charlotte Drive and Mayfield Road, drivers can turn left or right.

Mayfield Road will be open to westbound traffic.

Mid-Broadwell Road at Mayfield will only allow left turns out onto Mayfield during the detour.

Excellere Construction LLC is the contractor working on the project, and more information about it is available on the city's website.
