A previously convicted sex offender was sent back to prison Monday after a federal jury found him guilty of distributing child porn over the Internet.
Milton Hugh Cashwell was sentenced to 20 years, followed by a lifetime period of supervised release, by U.S. District Court Judge Steve C. Jones. He is not eligible for parole.
Cashwell was convicted of distributing five videos containing graphic images of children in sexual acts to a Homeland Security agent. One video showed an adult male raping a 6-year-old girl, according to the U.S. Attorney.
Agents executed a search warrant at Cashwell’s home in Americus, where they discovered broken pieces of the suspect’s cell phone where the pornographic images were stored, prosecutors said.
“While it is no surprise that a sex offender previously convicted of crimes involving children would be involved in the distribution of child pornography, the level of depravity on display in these cases is extremely troubling,” said Brock D. Nicholson, special agent in charge of ICE Homeland Security Investigations in Atlanta.
Cashwell was previously convicted of exploiting several children in Sumter County in the 1980s.
