Funeral arrangements have been scheduled for a Griffin High School student who was shot and killed early Saturday at a graduation party in Butts County.
The funeral for Cederrius Hastings, who was 16, will be Saturday at noon at First Assembly of God Church at 2000 West McIntosh Road, Griffin 30223, Channel 2 Action News reported. Also, visitation will be Friday, 1 to 6 p.m. at Burden’s Funeral Home, 222 South 14th St., Griffin 30224.
Hastings, an honor student, football player, father of an 8-month-old child and a member of the Bears football team, died in a drive-by style shooting, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution previously reported. Three other teens also were shot and wounded.
Two men were arrested Monday in connection with the shooting, police said. Christopher “Ray Ray” Walker, 19, of Flovilla, and Gemarius “Gee” Oneal, 19, of Griffin, were charged with murder, aggravated assault and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime. They were being held Tuesday at the Butts County Jail.
All four teenagers who were shot came from Griffin to the Levi Barnes Road residence in Jackson for the party, authorities said.
The shooting apparently stemmed from a long-running feud between Griffin and Jackson high schools, a Butts County sheriff’s spokesman told Channel 2.
